Is that title grammatically correct? I'm not sure, but it certainly doesn't sound quite right. Not that it matters. It’s the way it's often asked so where better to start? There are probably as many self hypnosis methods as there are meditation methods and that’s not the only similarity between the two. Before starting to experiment with self-hypnosis there are a few questions that tend to come up:
Self Hypnosis is much easier when you already have a reference point; When you know what hypnosis ‘feels like’. This reminds me of the riddle about the man asking directions to some place to be told ‘I wouldn't start from here.’ So where do you start from? |

The easiest and cheapest solution is to use a hypnotic CD or MP3 so you can get a feel for what hypnosis is like. Also, if you pick a reasonably good quality recording you should have a very good hypnotic experience to base future experiences on. I like HypnosisDownloads.com for hypnosis downloads and can recommend them. Once you've got used to being in a trance then it’s time to give it a go unaided and see how your self-inflicted trance states match up. The best way to start is with a method that has some kind of structure so you don't end up just sitting and waiting for something to happen. Betty Erickson's self hypnosis method is as good a method to start with as any. Once you become comfortable with self hypnosis then you may want to start to program you mind during self hypnosis sessions or experiment with instant self hypnosis methods. As with many skills, the more you practice the better you will become, and with hypnosis the more you experience trance states the easier they will become and the deeper your trances will be, and eventually you will know 'How to do Self Hypnosis'. |
